Ljubljana works well for guests who want a city break without long transfers between sights. The old town is compact and naturally starts around Prešeren Square, the Triple Bridge and the Ljubljanica riverbanks. Cross the bridge and you reach the Central Market, with Vodnikov trg, Pogačarjev trg and Plečnik’s riverside colonnade forming the main food-market area.
Dragon Bridge and the lower castle funicular are close to the market; guests can also walk up to Ljubljana Castle in about 15 minutes from the Old Town route. Tivoli and Rožnik add green space beyond the centre, while museums, cafés, restaurants and cultural quarters give the city more depth than a single sightseeing loop.
